Hemera Estate has nailed the 2017 vintage with this prime example. With comparably cooler growing conditions, fruit from vineyards in the warmer northern barossa were left longer on the vines, allowing greater depth of flavour in every single grape. During fermentation, the wine was twice daily pumped over (known as ‘racking’ in wine talk…) to extract maximum flavour and texture. When ready, it was transferred over to mostly new French and American oak barrels to relax and mature for a good 17 months. With complex notes of tobacco leaf, mocha, ripe cherries, figs and cedar; its finish is silky smooth and will continue to intrigue and amaze with every glass you pour.
