This is... kinda precious. Not that it needs to be cradled and handled with white gloves or anything... but it needs to be regarded, considered, and purposefully consumed. A decade old and barely middle-aged. Still with lashings of dark chocolate and punchy dark fruit. There is a little bit of briny sea spray starting to appear which adds an enticing savoury layer. Aromas of cigar box and forest floor wrap around wild berry and nettle. And then you’re hit with these beautiful bouquet of star anise, eucalypt and liquorice. There is so much intensity in the glass, and this wine is showing no signs of slowing down. Brooding and powerful. The next time we need to mark a milestone, we know what we’ll be reaching for.
