This winemaker learnt from some very big names in South Australia, making quality on a large scale. No doubt, there is a rebellious streak in the way their wines are now made: small batch, minimal intervention, wines of place. What does that all mean, you ask? It means sourcing fruit from vineyards of high quality and letting the grapes do all the talking. Very little pressing and no harsh handling here, a testament to the saying that ‘good wine is made in the vineyard’. Eden Valley riesling is all about the aromatics, a touch of orange blossom and crushed gravel, with a restrained citrus nose and elegant acid structure. This is riesling not as you know it: it’s even better.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
