The Lucky Dip Case is back! The first time we did this, we broke the internet. This time we’ve bubble-wrapped the servers because they’re in for another beating.
Every case contains the same wicked rosés, including some of our absolute faves here at the ‘fo. They’re all delightfully delicious. All mofo standard - i.e. nothing we haven’t enjoyed ourselves.
Then there’s the added excitement of a chance at your sixth wine being one of these iconic world-beating Champagnes!
An iconic Dom Perignon Champagne 2012
(1 in 100 chance)
A Champagne Carbon Rosé worth $500
(1 in 75 chance)
A bottle of Nicolas Maillart Brut Platine 1er Cru NV worth $90
(1 in 50 chance)
We should say up front: there are no returns on this - click here for case terms and conditions. As it’s a Lucky Dip, it would be unfair to other mofos running in the draw.
The easiest way to guarantee yourself a bottle of one of these Champagnes is to go out and buy one for yourself. If you, like me, don’t have $500 handy, this is definitely your best (and cheapest) option! Heard enough already? Pop that case in the cart and cross your fingers and toes! Otherwise, read on for a bit more info on all those lovely wines:
The Wild Card Wines
Wild Card Wine #1
Dom Perignon Champagne 2012
97pts James Suckling | 97pts Antonio Galloni | 96pts Robert Parker
“Wonderful elegance and balance to this Dom Pérignon with cooked apple, lemon and hints of white pepper and salt. It’s medium-bodied with really fine bubbles and balance. Spicy at the end. So wonderfully fresh, linear and long. Racy and elegant. A DP that invites to drink right now. All about finesse. Tension, too, with precise phenolics and bright acidity on the back palate. Subtle energy. Drinkable now, but will develop beautifully in the bottle” – James Suckling

Wild Card Wine #2
Champagne Carbon Rosé NV
Founded in 1920, Champagne Carbon is a 5th generation family operation combining age-old tradition with modern ingenuity. ‘Carbon’ isn’t just a fancy name - each bottle is wrapped in a layer of carbon fibre, a process that required four years research and development before the first prototype was released. Every single bottle takes 21 precise steps across an entire week to complete.
This is 50% chardonnay, 25% pinot noir and 25% pinot meunier that is aged in oak and finished with a barely perceptible 9 g/L dosage. It’s salmon in colour, aromatic and bright. Look for strawberry, cherry and violet on the nose with hints of orange peel, citrus tang and more strawberry coming through on the palate. Certainly a ‘show-off’ wine of the finest order, but not just because of the impressive packaging...the real magic is in the wine inside.

Wild Card Wine #3
Nicolas Maillart Brut Platine 1er Cru NV
95pts Decanter | 95pts Michael Edwards | 95pts Simon Field MW | Tim Hall
“Blind tasted by Michael Edwards, Simon Field MW and Tim Hall (at Decanter’s July 2017 Grower Champagne Panel Tasting, 01 Mar 2017). Michael Edwards: Opulent and finessed. Simon Field MW: Fulsome colour and temperamentally big-boned , this is an impressive example. The six grams of residual sugar finely knit into a texture of ripe, red-berried fruit. The finish has an ethereal poise, brought down to earth by just a hint of spice. Tim Hall: Immediately vital in the mouth. Very chewy and demanding, a serious champagne but pretty exciting. Citrus character but with complex fruit and a pretty lingering finish. I like this!”
